1920년 홍난파가 어쩔 수 없이 공장에 가는 시골 소녀 봉선을 추억하며 지었다는 본 곡은, 우리나라 최초의 가곡으로도 유명하다.평생을 한국 음악의 발전을 위해 애써온 김천애 님이 20년이 지난 1940년 대의 어느 시점 한복을 곱게 차려입고 일본에서 불렀고, 그후 일본에 의해 금지곡이 되었다는 점을 우리는 알 필요가 있다. 광복 70주년인 지금 우리의 영혼은 과연 어디에 있는가? 한국인가 일본인가 아님 다른 곳인가?
The song composed by Hong Nan-pa in the 1920 is comprised of the sad story of a country girl, Bong-seon, who was forced to work in a factory to earn her family's living. And in the 1940s, the single singer, Kim Cheon-ae, sang this first Korean Lied in Japan, and soon was forced to stop singing this song. After that, she tried every means possible to develp the music in Korea till her death. This year of 2015, we are faced with the 70th anniversary of Korea Independence from Japan. But I do want to ask all of the Koreans one thing. Where are our souls? In Korea or in Japan or In the others?
