짝사랑하던 이에게서 실연당한 대학생이 거지 왕초를 만나고, 술집에서 학대받는 벙어리 여인을 집에 데려다주기 위해 애쓴다는 내용인 영화 고래사냥은 80년대초 많은 한국인들에게 큰 사랑을 받았다.개인이 힘들때는 더 힘든 이들을 돕고 배려해 줌으로써 이 사회 전체가 밝아질 수 있다는 긍정의 메시지를 주는 영화라 여겨진다.

A college student who  just got rejected from his one-sided loving girl met with a beggar boss. And they found an abused deaf lady in a bar and decided to guide her to her hometown. In the early 1980s when this movie was released, it became a big hit around the country. This movie seems to send us the positive message that when one is in a bind, he can recover himself by helping others in need, which must brighten the whole world.
